[stə'tɪnɪəs], Edward Reilly, Jr., amerikanischer Politiker, * Chicago (Illinois) 22. 10. 1900, ✝ Greenwich (Connecticut) 31. 10. 1949; zunächst in führenden Positionen in der Automobil- und Stahlindustrie tätig; leitete 1941-43 die Verwaltung des Lend-Lease-Systems, war 1943-44 Undersecretary of State, November 1944 bis Juni 1945 Außenminister. Er spielte bei der Formulierung und Ausführung der Außenpolitik unter Präs. F. D. Roosevelt eine eher untergeordnete Rolle; als starker Befürworter einer internationalen Organisation für die Nachkriegszeit war er jedoch maßgeblich an den Entscheidungen zur Gründung der UNO auf den Konferenzen von Dumbarton Oaks, Jalta und San Francisco beteiligt. 1945-46 war er der erste Chefdelegierte der USA bei der UNO.
